Joshua Jackson will replace Jamie Dornan as star of the Peacock series Dr. Death… after scheduling conflicts caused the 50 Shades actor to bow out

Joshua Jackson will now be starring in the Peacock limited series Dr. Death in place of Jamie Dornan.

The Fifty Shades actor, 38, was set to play the title role, but was forced to drop out because of scheduling conflicts the arose after Dr. Death’s production was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Deadline.

Now Jackson, 42, will join castmates Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater in the adaptation of a Wondery podcast about Dr. Christopher Duntsch, a Texas surgeon who ended up being responsible for the death and maiming of 33 patients.

She will also executive produce the two episodes. Kiley joins an all-female directing team which also includes Jennifer Morrison and So Yong Kim.

Patrick Macmanus – whose previous credits include Netflix’s Marco Polo and Happy! for Syfy – will be the showrunner and writer.

Dr. Death will tell the story of the charismatic neurosurgeon Dr. Christopher Duntsch, a charming Dallas, Texas-area physician whose flourishing career veered far off course when patients began leaving his operating room permanently maimed or dead.

Baldwin and Slater will play neurosurgeon Robert Henderson and vascular surgeon Randall Kirby, two fellow physicians who try to figure out what’s prompted Duntsch’s ever-growing body count.

Duntsch was eventually arrested and sentenced to life in jail in 2017.
