Killer Paralympian Oscar Pistorius tells friend he’s desperate for forgiveness from Reeva Steenkamp’s family after shooting his girlfriend dead on Valentine’s Day 2013

  • The athlete is serving 13 years and five months at a low-security jail in Pretoria

 The killer Paralympian Oscar Pistorius is desperate for forgiveness from the family of his victim, his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.  

The former Paralympic gold medallist, who is jailed for 15 years for shooting Reeva dead on Valentine’s Day in 2013, told a friend he really wants forgiveness. 

He is serving 13 years and five months at a low-security jail in Pretoria.

 His ex-headteacher Bill Schroder, 76, who visits him in jail told the Sun :’What he really, really wants is forgiveness.

‘I said to him that if he had killed my daughter I doubt I would forgive him.

‘He is more concerned about forgiveness than actually getting out on parole. In fact, he has a real fear about getting parole as he knows they’ll be a backlash.’

He fired four times through the door of his bedroom toilet, claiming he had mistaken her for an intruder. 

 Murdered Reeva’s mother June Steenkamp, 71,  told local media in 2018  that she had forgiven Oscar for murdering her daughter but believed that he should still be punished.

 Reeva’s parents English born June from Blackburn, Lancs, and her South African born retired horse trainer husband Barry, 75, were always convinced she was murdered.

The couple told a TV channel that they believe Reeva had packed her bags and told Pistorius she was leaving him on the evening of her death and that he killed her.

Pistorius was the first double amputee to race in the Olympics competing in the 2012 London games becoming a role model for the disabled worldwide.
