Elle King’s boyfriend Dan Tooker pops the question on one-year anniversary before she could propose

Elle King recently revealed that quarantine has been the longest time she’s spent with a partner, even after being married.

And the three-time Grammy nominee appears to be in it for the long haul with boyfriend Dan Tooker, who recently became her fiancé.

She got engaged Friday to the tattoo artist, who popped the question during their one-year anniversary, before she got the chance to carry out her own planned proposal.

The 31-year-old wrote on Instagram: ‘Today is our 1 year anniversary. We rode horses up a mountain to go gold panning. I had a ring in my pocket and I was going to toss it in the gold pan and propose to @tattooker …

‘But of course, my soulmate beat me to the punch and proposed to me the exact same way. So I immediately got down on my knee too. I love you Daniel. 1 year down, forever to go. I said Yes by the way and so did he!’

Tooker corroborated the crazy coincidence: ‘We went horse back riding and gold panning for our 1 year anniversary. I found something more precious and beautiful.

‘I proposed after finding the ring in the pan and my sole mate of course had the same plan. She had a ring too for me. I love you so much and couldn’t imagine eternity with anyone else. I love you forever and more @elleking’

King told ET about spending quarantine with Tooker back in July: ‘For the first half of quarantine, I was pretty alone, and then my boyfriend joined me. And we were totally, like, on top of each other. So for me, my escape was I would come into my music room and I would just make music for like, 11 hours.’

She continued: ‘Honestly, it’s amazing that we’re still in a relationship. My dad [SNL alum Rob Schneider], on Father’s Day, brought up a really great point. He was like, “Elle, you were married and you never spent this much time with him.”‘

The America’s Sweetheart artist mused to Variety in July: ‘The beauty of love is being vulnerable and putting yourself out there. Love doesn’t always go as planned, but everything’s a lesson.

‘Looking back on so many of my relationships, I’m, like, “Thank God, I’m not with that person,” and “Thank you, a**hole, for teaching me about what I didn’t want.” Now, I’m happily in love with someone I met unexpectedly — we’re together 10 months.

‘The best thing was I had time to work on myself and be alone before this, build on the idea of self-love. RuPaul says it best, “If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?”‘
