He may only be two months old, but Mick Fanning’s son Xander is already taking after his surfing champion father.

On Wednesday, Mick, 39, shared a milestone moment as he took Xander to the ocean for the first time on Tuesday. 

Mick proudly documented the occasion on Instagram, uploading a photo of himself cuddling his adorable tot in the shallows.

A subsequent photo showed the athlete carefully lowering Xander’s legs into the water. 

‘Little man dipped his feet in the ocean for the first time today. He was pretty relaxed,’ Mick proudly wrote in the caption, making sure to tag his fiancée Breeana Randall, 27.

Mick and Breeana welcomed their first child Xander on August 10.

Announcing the happy arrival, Mick penned a heartfelt Instagram post written from Xander’s perspective along with a cute photo of the newborn. 

‘I’m extremely strong, healthy and calm all because of my beautiful Mama Breeana is a full-on superhero,’ read the caption. 

‘Mama was so calm, relaxed and in the zone. Dada calls her his Zen Wonder Woman and is so in awe of how strong and amazing she is,’ it continued.

‘Dada thought he could focus but he’s got nothing on Mama. She rules. Dada loves you beyond words.

He added: ‘Thank you to Dr Gen Bishop and all the amazing midwives and staff at John Flynn Hospital. You’ve all been too kind, loving and helpful.

Mick and Breeana became engaged in February after the surfing legend popped the question at Dreamtime Beach, near Fingal Head, NSW.

At the time, a pregnant Breeana said that Mick would make an ‘amazing father’.

‘I’m so excited for this beautiful and rad journey together as a family, and to see you flourish as a daddy. You melt my heart everyday with your outpouring of love and affection,’ she wrote on Instagram.

The American model added that even their dog, Harper, was being ‘super protective and loving’, before speaking about the surprise engagement.

‘And what I thought would be a bubby announcement photo shoot turned into something else so very special. I’m still speechless and soaking in this moment,’ Breeana wrote.

‘You’ve had me smiling bigger than I ever have before since we’ve met, and that smile continues to grow on the daily.’
