The Bachelorette: Stars were ‘disappointed and underwhelmed’ by Elly and Becky Miles

The Bachelorette suitors were ‘disappointed and underwhelmed’ by Elly and Becky Miles as they believed Channel 10 had lined up DWTS’ Sharna Burgess for the role

The Bachelorette cast were reportedly upset with the choice of sisters Elly and Becky Miles after hearing rumours Channel 10 was going to cast a celebrity.

According to Woman’s Day on Monday, this year’s suitors were ‘disappointed and underwhelmed’ to be greeted by the self-confessed ‘country girls’.

‘The boys were really gutted,’ a source told the publication.

Not happy! The Bachelorette’s Elly (L) and Becky Miles (R) left the male cast ‘disappointed and underwhelmed’, according to a report in Woman’s Day magazine this week

‘They really thought they had a celebrity and were somewhat underwhelmed with their choices,’ the insider added.

The report also claimed that several male contestants were expecting to meet former Dancing with the Stars judge Sharna Burgess.

One suitor was apparently so deflated by Sharna’s absence that he told his co-stars he would not have bothered applying for the show if he’d known Elly and Becky were going to be the Bachelorettes.

‘I know a lot of the guys wanted Sharna and I think a lot of them probably would have pulled out had they known it was going to be Elly and Becky,’ the source claimed.

Sharna, 35, has claimed that Channel 10 offered her the role of Bachelorette, but she turned them down.

In an interview on former Bachelor U.S. star Demi Burnett’s podcast in August, she said: ‘They offered it to me a couple of times actually.’

‘I considered it long and hard and thought about it, but it didn’t feel right for me.’

The Los Angeles-based dancer admitted that while she was a huge fan of the Bachelor franchise, it would be difficult for her to settle down with an Australian guy given that she lives in America.

She added: ‘It didn’t feel like it lined up right, but who’s to say that that next year it won’t? If I’m still 36 and single next year, I’ll be calling The Bachelor like, “Okay, let’s do this! I need some help.”’

Sharna also admitted the COVID-19 pandemic had played a role in her decision.

‘It didn’t feel right for me this year, and then the pandemic hit and it’s postponed and all the things, but I was really excited about it for a period of time,’ she said.

Elly and Becky Miles will be the first ever sisters to lead the series.
