Ant and Dec share hilarious video of themselves caught in rainstorm at I’m a Celeb’s new Welsh home

Ant and Dec get caught in a Welsh rainstorm in hilarious video ahead of I’m A Celebrity launch… amid claims show is ‘under threat’ due to new lockdown rules in Wales

They’re due to present the first ever UK-based series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!  in just over a month – but it has been claimed the show is ‘under threat’ due to new lockdown rules in Wales.

And Ant and Dec brushed off the drama as they shared footage of themselves caught in a rainstorm at the show’s new home in North Wales.

Ant, 44, and Dec, 45, took to Instagram to share the amusing video of themselves walking through the wet grounds of Gwrych Castle, where the show’s twentieth series will take place.

Miserable: Ant and Dec took to Instagram on Saturday to share footage of themselves walking through the wet grounds of the I’m A Celebrity castle in North Wales

The footage starts with Ant romping through a grassy meadow, before he pauses, puts his hand out, and looks worriedly up at the sky.

Ant then faces the camera and opens up a large black umbrella, completely hiding himself view.

The duo then make use of some technical video wizardry: When the umbrella is lifted up into the sky it is not Ant but in fact Dec that is now standing in view, who mischievously raises his eyebrows at the camera.

The TV presenter then marches along out of shot, now sheltered from the continuing rain.

The duo teasingly captioned the post: ‘Might want to take your brolly out today, it’s raining Ants & Decs out there’.

This latest appearance from the much-loved presenting pair comes as amid claims the show is ‘under threat’ due to new lockdown rules in Wales.

Crew members have been seen preparing the castle in Abergele, North Wales, with cranes and scaffolding also being operated.

New restrictions from the start of October have meant people are unable to leave or enter the Conwy County Borough area or be in a ‘ bubble’ with extended household members (people you don’t live with) without a ‘reasonable excuse’.

Producers are set to entertain viewers by making the contestants face ghost trials to adhere to the ‘haunted’ theme of the castle.

The broadcaster has also had great success with filming their soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale under strict guidelines and under COVID-secure measures, so are well-versed in the restrictions.

Bosses have reportedly forked out millions to make the 19th-century castle where this year’s series is being held in North Wales safe.

It has apparently been a costly affair to transform the castle into a TV set, as workers installed electrics and pipes to provide the location with running water.

According to the Sun, the star-studded line-up of campmates will be housed under a waterproof roof in a show first to protect them from the bitter UK climate.

A show source said: ‘This isn’t a holiday camp for the stars, but without a roof, everyone would have been utterly miserable for three weeks, which would not make great telly.

‘It will still be hard work but slightly warmer than if it snows where they are sleeping. ITV want viewers to largely recognise the show.’
