Spanish police have arrested a couple after spotting a cannabis plant that had grown to 16 feet in their garden.
Officers were issued with a search warrant to access the property in Molina de Segura near Murcia, south-east Spain, having been alerted by the tell-tale smell coming from the monster plant.
They were eventually forced to cut up the tree, which was more than 16 feet high and just as wide, in order to take it away in smaller pieces.
The detainees, a man and a woman whose nationalities have not been revealed, appeared in court but have since been released on bail.

The tree had been hidden under plastic sheeting which had transformed the patio area into a homemade greenhouse.
Footage released by police in Murcia showed officers inspecting the tree as it towered above them before it was eventually chopped up.
More than 20 buds hanging from the branches were said to be ready for harvesting when officers carried out their raid.
A spokesman said: ‘The tree was measured before it was cut up and was found to be 16.4 feet high (five metres high) and around the same width.’

A source said: ‘The smell was a definite give-away but officers were still pretty shocked when they saw for themselves just how large the plant was.
‘More than a plant, it was a tree.
‘Normally individual officers can take away two or three cannabis plants at a time during confiscations but it was impossible on this occasion.
‘You only have to look at the video footage to see how it towered over the police who participated in the operation.

‘The tree had grown to first-floor level and was nearly three times as high as the officers.’
Molina de Segura is a town and municipality around six miles from the city of Murcia.
It has the fourth largest population in the province, also called Murcia, after the provincial capital, Cartagena and Lorca, with just over 60,000 inhabitants.
