How Studio 10’s Sarah Harris cleverly turned the tables on a Twitter troll

How Studio 10’s Sarah Harris turned the tables on a Twitter troll who made violent threats against her by tracking him down and calling his employer

Studio 10 host Sarah Harris has revealed that she once tracked down a misogynistic Twitter troll and shamed him in front of his boss.

The 39-year-old shared her story on Friday while discussing the The Ernie Awards, an annual ‘awards’ ceremony calling out the worst examples of sexism in public life.

The television presenter explained that some of her trolls have made ‘threats of violence’ in the past, but one comment went way too far.

Taking action: Sarah Harris has revealed that she once tracked down a Twitter troll who had made violent threats towards her

‘There was once case where a bloke had contacted me and was threatening to rape and murder me, and I ended up calling his employer,’ she said.

Sarah revealed that the troll hadn’t used an anonymous account, meaning it was quite easy for her to track him down.

In fact, his company name and phone number were on his social media profile.

She continued: ‘I rang [his boss] and said, “Look, I just want to let you know that this is what one of your employees said to me and you might want to tell the guy to back off a bit.”

‘It was wedding photography business, it was supposed to be dealing in love!’

Sarah’s confronting story about online trolling comes after Channel 10 announced a major shake-up for the Studio 10 panel.

In August, panellists Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Natarsha Belling were made redundant due to budget cuts.

Less than a month later, Joe Hildebrand announced his resignation.

Just days after Joe’s farewell, the network announced that Dancing with the Stars judge Tristan MacManus would be joining Sarah as co-host of Studio 10.

The new-look panel also includes newsreader Narelda Jacobs and entertainment reporter Angela Bishop.
