‘Bring it back!’ Fans call for ABC show The Cook and the Chef to return to TV – 11 years after the cooking program was axed

ABC TV’s cooking show The Cook and the Chef was axed in 2009 after four seasons.

But now, fans of the program are calling for co-hosts Maggie Beer and Simon Bryant to reunite and film new episodes, more than a decade after it finished airing.

‘I absolutely loved the show. This is what cooking should be… It was great to see the connection with Maggie and Simon. I’d love to see them get together again for a few more episodes. I for one would be watching,’ one person wrote on Facebook.

The program was popular with viewers thanks to its blend of Maggie’s homespun wisdom and Simon’s insight as a formally educated restaurateur.

Despite their age gap – Simon was in his forties at the time and Maggie in her sixties – the duo appeared to share genuine chemistry and friendship.

Reruns of The Cook and the Chef continue to air on multichannel SBS Food, however the accompanying recipes are no longer available on the ABC website.
