The hard sell: He recently launched his debut fragrance, and Shane Warne (pictured) has a cringeworthy commercial to go with it

It begins with the former sports star gazing out into the abyss, with a dark shadow obscuring half of his face.

The ad then cuts to a shot of Shane’s designer watches sitting side-by-side on a counter, before he’s shown holding a bottle of the fragrance.

In another shot, the bottle sits in front of a cricket ball, before it cuts away to another shot of Shane holding the product up to the camera.

He’s then shown turning to face the camera, a shadow once again falling across half his face to add an air of mystery.

‘SW23, the debut fragrance,’ announces a male voiceover.

While Shane is clearly proud of the new fragrance, regularly promoting it on his Instagram since its launch earlier this month, many fans were confused by the ad.

‘Is this for real. Looks more like a comedy sketch,’ commented one viewer on YouTube.

‘1995 called. It wants its ridiculous ad back,’ wrote another person.

Added another: ‘Judging by the amount of views and comments, it looks like this perfume will be heading to the discount bin before Christmas.’
