Selling Sunset’s Jason Oppenheim defends cast after colleagues are accused of FAKING their careers

The cast of Selling Sunset have sparked suspicions they are faking their real estate careers for the hit Netflix series.

But Oppenheim Group owner Jason Oppenheim insists that is not the case.

In a statement obtained by People, Jason said his colleagues have a combined 50 years experience working in the field, and a ‘superficial investigation’ into the matter would provide evidence of this.

Not just for show: Jason Oppenheim stood up for his Selling Sunset cast members, insisting no one was faking their real estate careers

In his defense, Jason broke down the years of experience Chrishell Stause, Christine Quinn, Mary Fitzgerald, Heather Rae Young, Davina Portraz, Amanza Smith, and Maya Vander have had working not just for his company, but in the industry as a whole.

‘Mary, Heather, Maya, and Christine were licensed and successful real estate agents at The Oppenheim Group many years prior to filming our show,’ Jason explained.

‘Amanza worked with us as a designer, and has been a close friend of Mary’s and mine for many years. Chrishell was a practicing agent at another brokerage, many years previous to filming Selling Sunset. As a licensed agent, Davina had transacted many deals before joining the team in 2018.’

Jason called the suggestion his team were faking their careers a ‘complete disregard for the facts.’

‘Any insinuation that the agents on our show are not experienced, successful, or licensed, evidences a complete disregard for the facts,’ he continued.

‘Even a superficial investigation would identify previous team photos, hundreds of millions in transacted sales, and more than 50 years of combined licensed real estate experience from these agents.’

This is not the first time Jason has had to defend his colleagues from doubtful fans.

Recently, Jason stood up for his colleagues after model Chrissy Teigen expressed her suspicions about their careers on Twitter.

‘I will say, I look at LA real estate a lot and have never seen any of these people lol neither have our agents, who I have obsessively asked,’ Chrissy said on Twitter.

The comment compelled other Twitter users to chime in with similar suspicions.

‘I heard from someone that lives across the street from their office that it’s literally ALWAYS closed, no one is ever there,’ wrote a woman named Marissa. ‘She did see one guy in there once, but not anyone from the show.’

‘If you look them up on MLS they have a very small number of actual listings sold or for sell. Some aren’t even licensed,’ added a woman named Courtney.

‘I read they are not actually real estate agents, only Jason and Brett are, so that would make sense,’ yet another commenter chimed in.

The thread eventually prompted a response from Jason.

‘Chrissy, thanks for watching our show!’ he wrote. ‘Regarding your agent’s knowledge of members of my team, I respectfully don’t know him either although that doesn’t mean he isn’t successful and didn’t just sell you a stunning home in Weho (seriously, I love your new house).’

‘My team works tirelessly and if their real estate successes don’t precede them yet, they will. Remember their names. And feel free to come by the office and say hi.’
