Channel Ten ‘holds secret auditions for a new Studio 10 co-host’ ahead of its relaunch – after presenter Kerri-Anne Kennerley was sacked from the show

Channel Ten are reportedly on the recruitment trail after sacking 25 employees two weeks ago, including Studio 10 presenter Kerri-Anne Kennerley and newsreader Natarsha Belling.

According to TV Blackbox, the network has started searching for a new co-host to join Sarah Harris in a refreshed version of the breakfast show.

Ten reportedly held ‘secret auditions’ over the weekend for a Studio 10 host ahead of its relaunch on September 14.

The new co-host will join presenter Sarah Harris, newsreader Narelda Jacobs and entertainment reporter Angela Bishop on the morning program.

Daily Mail have contacted Channel 10 for comment.

On Friday, Ten confirmed Sarah, Narelda and Angela will remain on the show in a statement to media industry newsletter Social Diary.

‘Network 10 has confirmed that Sarah Harris, Narelda Jacobs and Angela Bishop will remain an integral part of the Studio 10 team with further announcements soon,’ it read.

‘Denise Drysdale, Craig Bennett, Jono Coleman and other regulars will continue as special contributors,’ the statement added, noting that the show will continue to air weekdays from 8am to 12pm.

The fate of panellist Joe Hildebrand is not yet known, but he is understood to be in talks with the network about his future.

Jono Coleman will also present the advertorial segments as normal.

This comes after two weeks after the network announced that 25 of its stars had been made redundant as a cost-cutting measure.

The group included high-profile stars such as Studio 10’s Kerri-Anne Kennerley, newsreader Natarsha Belling and legendary weatherman Tim Bailey.

Kerri-Anne fought back tears on air last Wednesday as she acknowledged that the coronavirus pandemic had made it necessary to tighten the budget, and thanked her friends and colleagues for their support.

‘I just know I’m back on the “lazy Susan” of television. Yeah, it’s very, very tough for a lot of people,’ she said on Studio 10.
