She explained to hosts Larry Edmur and Kylie Gillies that ‘age is just a number’ and that women can still be ‘stylish at any age’.

‘The agency really celebrates diversity – the only prerequisite they have is that you have to be 30 years of age or older, and a lot of people in the agencies are up to the age of 80,’ she said.

‘I would much prefer an uber-stylish woman in their sixties selling me a face cream, rather than a 16-year-old schoolgirl with no wrinkles.’

Her new role comes amid a rising demand for older models on our catwalks and in advertising.

‘Because when you walk out the front door that is what you see, so it’s great to have those people being represented.’
