Demi Lovato rang in her 28th birthday on Thursday.

And to mark her special day, the pop star shined a light on Breonna Taylor, an EMT who was shot and killed by police in her Louisville, Kentucky apartment at 26-years-old.

The Anyone singer launched a Propeller campaign providing resources for fans to send letters to the Louisville authorities demanding justice for Taylor and donating to the civil rights organization Color of Change.

Honoring Breonna: Demi Lovato marked her 28th birthday by launching a Propeller campaign providing resources for fans to send letters to the Louisville authorities demanding justice for Breonna Taylor and donating to the civil rights organization Color of Change

‘Today is my 28th birthday,’ the Anyone singer wrote to Instagram. ‘A birthday that Breonna Taylor will never have the opportunity to experience.’

A photo of Taylor sat behind her written statement, that included the demand for fans to ‘start talking action now.’

‘I’ve launched a special Propeller campaign in Breonna’s honor that includes pre-written letters to the Louisville mayor and chief of police, petition links and donation links,’ Demi explained.

Adding: ‘No matter how big or small you think your impact may be, if we all stand together we can help bring justice for Breonna Taylor.’

The pre-written email makes a list of demands and insists they must be met ‘to ensure that the officers responsible for Breonna’s death are held accountable for their brash, reprehensible actions.’

It continues to ask that the three officers—Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, Detective Brett Hankison, and Detective Myles Cosgrove—involved in her shooting be fired and have their pensions revoked.

As well, the letter addressed to Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, asks for a ‘transparent investigation,’ appointment of a special prosecutor and addressing the use of force by the police department.

‘It is a tragedy that Breonna Taylor is not alive today,’ the letter adds. ‘Police must be held to a higher standard than this. I trust that your office and the involved parties will do the right thing.’

Taylor – an EMT and aspiring nurse – died in March,  after Louisville police entered the wrong apartment while attempting a drug bust, causing Breonna’s boyfriend Kenneth Walker to think there was a break-in and fire his legally licensed firearm in self-defense.

She was shot eight times. None of the officers involved have been arrested, though in June, officer Hankison was the only officer involved to have been fired.
