And on Thursday, Matthew ‘Matty J’ Johnson, 33, revealed the truth behind the infamous ‘Bachelor earpiece’ on his podcast The Babble.

Last week on the podcast So Dramatic, ex-contestant Nadine Kodsi called the current Bachelor, Locklan ‘Locky’ Gilbert, a ‘production puppet’ and said he was being fed lines by producers through the ear piece.

Nadine claimed that her red carpet introduction was cut from the season premiere because she called him out for using the earpiece, she also allegedly overheard producers giving him conversation starters.

But Matty refuted her claim, explaining that the point of the ear piece is for the director to communicate to the Bachelor in case of a production issue with the camera or sound crew.

‘They (producers) try to never talk to you unless it’s critical because they don’t want to have any impeding effect on it being free flowing,’ he said.

The former Bachelor continued: ‘Production would have never stepped in like that, it’s not going to make the edit so it’s not they’re not going to make you redo it again because it makes it more awkward. Production never step in.’

Matty also hit out the other rumours that Locky and Bella had met in Bali before the series and made a ‘secret pact’ to make it to the end, and that all the contestants wanted to quit because they didn’t like Locky.

The reality TV star-turned-podcaster claimed it was not true, adding that those rumours come around ‘every single year’.

Addressing Nadine, he said: ‘I get that it’s disappointing when you leave so early on, but I do think it’s a shame that she’s got such a vendetta against Locky and she really wants to drag him down. I think it’s really unfair.’

‘That decision is entirely at the hands of The Bachelor. You get to pick exactly which girls you go on dates with, and who stays and who goes home.

‘Even the order of the rose ceremony. It is up to you. He decides everything, it’s all up to him.’
