Why Glenn Robbins once turned down a career-making Hollywood role – before the film went on to gross more than $183 MILLION worldwide

Glenn Robbins has revealed he once turned down a chance at Hollywood stardom.

Speaking to Hit FM’s Hughesy & Ed on Tuesday, the 62-year-old comedian revealed he’d been offered the role of Fat Amy’s father in Pitch Perfect 3.

But Glenn said he was committed to filming Russell Coight’s All Aussie Adventures at the time, and was skeptical when the film’s producers refused to send him a script.

Fat Amy was famously played by Rebel Wilson in the comedy franchise, which has grossed more than $565million worldwide.

Pitch Perfect 3, released in December 2017, was a box office hit, and went on to gross more than $183million.

‘If I’m not right for the role, I’m not right for the role. They wouldn’t show me the script, so I went, “Oh well,” and I never heard from them again. They never got back to me,’ Glenn said.

Radio host Dave Hughes insisted he should have just jumped on a plane and arrived on the film’s set ready to work.

But Glenn stood by his decision, asking Dave if he would just accept a role in something they hadn’t even seen the script for.

‘Yes! Of course!’ replied an incredulous Dave, who described Glenn’s decision to walk away from Pitch Perfect 3 as ‘unbelievable’.

But the Kath & Kim star said he had no regrets whatsoever, insisting that ‘you’ve got to go in with passion’.

The role ultimately went to John Lithgow, who played Fat Amy’s high-flying criminal dad, Fergus, in the third Pitch Perfect film.

Glenn said he was ‘very proud’ that such a respected actor had succeeded him.

But Dave wasn’t convinced, yelling with frustration: ‘You would’ve been better than John Lithgow. You would’ve bloody smashed it!’
