American financial executive Jon Winkelried is the Co-CEO of TPG Capital, a US private equity firm which ultimately owns Italian restaurant chain Prezzo through a UK holiday company. 

But he is best known for his time at US investment bank Goldman Sachs, which he was the Co-President of from 2006 to February 2009 – before he retired suddenly aged 49, siting a desire to leave the banking lifestyle behind.

His time at the top of the industry has been fruitful in terms of personal wealth. In 2010, it was reported that he had put his $55 million house in Monomoy, Nantucket, on the market.

According to CNN Money, his total compensation package in 2008 while working for Goldman Sachs was around $42million, with a base salary of $600,000.

According to a report in the Telegraph in 2013, Mr Varney, along with a number of other of Merlin’s directors, became a ‘paper millionaire’ overnight when the company was floated on the London Stock Exchange.

He is said to be worth more than $15million according to one website and in 2018 he featured in a list of the top 10 highest paid CEOs in Europe, with a total pay of around $1.9million. He also featured in 2016, with a pay packet of around $2.4million.

As of 2019, Forbes ranked Schwarzman at 100th on its World’s Billionaires List.

He has an estimated total wealth of around $17.2billion.

Schwarzman briefly served as Chairman of President Donald Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum – created by Trump to give the president perspectives from business leaders on how to create jobs and improve growth for the US economy.
