Kelly Ripa, 49, gives her Instagram followers a month-by-month guide to her grey roots progression

She isn’t afraid to show what the prolonged quarantine is doing to her coif.

On Saturday, Live with Kelly and Ryan star Kelly Ripa posted an eye-opening look at the monthly progression of her greying roots, which have grown out over the course of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

The daytime star, 49, uploaded a grid of closeups of her scalp for her 2.8m followers, one for each month of the year, showing a marked change as the graying area grew in size. 

‘Perhaps this meme is a week old at this point… but does that really compare to these roots?’ Ripa asked in the caption. 

‘My version of the #2020Calendar is just…real….’ she continued, along with a smattering of emojis.  

In the grid, January starts off with a sumptuous glamor shot of Kelly, perfectly coiffed, but by March, the closeups are starting to show some grey roots.  

For May, she added a funny animoji showing her as an old woman, with all grey hair.

And July through September feature the same shot – Ripa staring wide-eyed into the mirror as her face is surrounded by a crown of lightening silver roots. 

It’s just the latest edition in the former All My Children star’s ‘roots watch,’ which she started around the outset of the lockdown since she knew she wouldn’t be able to visit the salon.

On March 22nd, Kelly poked fun at the little sacrifices she and others have had to give up while self isolating, showing her first closeup roots selfie in her Instagram Stories.   

She blocked her face with her phone, but gave a clear view of her honey blonde locks, which were parted down the middle to reveal an advancing stripe of grey.

‘Root watch week one,’ she jokingly captioned it.

Ripa was able to joke about these small inconveniences, but the daytime talk show host has continued to urge her fans to isolate and take precautions while the pandemic rages on throughout much of the US.
