McDonald’s is testing a new service where food would be delivered to car windows so customers could avoid long drive-thru queues.
The service, which would see takeaway orders delivered to parked cars, is currently being trialled at three UK restaurants located in Royston, Biggleswade and Lytham.
Customers order from the McDonald’s app, park in the car park and then have the food delivered straight to their window.
It could help customers avoid waiting in drive-thru queues that stretched for miles when McDonald’s restaurants first opened after lockdown in May.

It could help customers avoid long queues at the drive-thru and is currently being trialled at three UK restaurants – in Royston, Biggleswade and Lytham
It would also help customers avoid entering the fast-food restaurant, where they must adhere to social distancing measures.
Motorists can stay in the safety of their own car and will be signposted to special McDonald’s parking bays when they arrive. They can then add the bay number to their food order when they pay.
Food will be delivered in takeaway bags on a tray by staff wearing a face mask, according to The Sun.
If it is successful, the option could roll out to McDonald’s branches around the country this autumn, the fast food chain said.
McDonald’s reopened its first UK restaurants after lockdown on May 13 but huge demand saw customers sitting in tailbacks stretching for miles.
Some fast food lovers waited up to three hours in a queue to get their hands on Happy Meals and Big Macs.
Since May, McDonald’s has been reopening its restaurants in phases for either home delivery, takeaway or drive-thru orders.

It now has more than 1,260 sites open for business, although not all branches offer every method of ordering.
The fast food chain is currently running a reduced menu to maintain social distancing between kitchen staff.
It added six of its favourite menu items yesterday including the popular Chicken Legend burger and sweet Apple Pies.
McDonald’s brought back mayo chicken sandwiches, the bacon mayo chicken, milkshakes, hot chocolate, bacon double cheeseburgers and Happy Meal organic milk bottles in July.
The chain is also part of the government’s Eat Out to Help Out deal, which means diners will get half price deals on Monday-Wednesday until the end of August.
