Sunrise host Samantha Armytage thanks friends for ‘looking after her’ after parents’ hospitalisation

Samantha Armytage has thanked her friends for ‘feeding’ and ‘looking after her’ in light of her parents’ recent health woes which left them both hospitalised.

On Tuesday, the 43-year-old Sunrise host revealed her mum, Libby, had been hospitalised with heart failure, while her dad, Mac, recently suffered a stroke – however, they have both now stabilised.

And Samantha ensured to express gratitude towards her ‘gorgeous’ friends on Wednesday, as she shared an image alongside presenter Sally Obermeder, journalist Adene Cassidy and The Morning Show’s executive producer, Sarah Stinson.

‘So much love to these gorgeous girls, who have, quite literally, fed me for the past fortnight’ Samantha wrote.

Samantha shared further snaps of the delicious dishes her friends provided for her, which included the likes of salads and cauliflower soup.

The TV personality also thanked her followers, writing: ‘Thank you to everyone for your gorgeous messages of support.’

This comes after Sam revealed both her parents had thankfully ‘stabilised’ since they were admitted to hospital, and she was due to return to work on Wednesday after taking some much-needed time off.

‘As some of you may know, my mum Libby has been gravely ill for a while (she has an autoimmune disease which has resulted in heart failure) & on his way to visit her in hospital ten days ago, my dad Mac collapsed after having a stroke,’ she wrote.

The breakfast show host included a photo of herself with her family, including her parents, in happier times.

Speaking about her father, Sam labelled him ‘a tough old buggar’, and said she was confident he’d make a full recovery.

‘Luckily he wasn’t out the back of Wagga in a paddock as he probably wouldn’t be here to tell the tale,’ she continued.

‘He’s a tough old buggar & he’s in rehab, frustrated but determined. And giving plenty of cheek to his long-suffering, wonderful nurses.’

Sam also offered an update on her mother’s condition, and admitted it had been hard to visit them amid the coronavirus restrictions.

‘Mum has stabilised too & despite having both of them in hospital (with the added pressure of the totally necessary Corona-related-visitor restrictions) now I’m heading back to work tomorrow morning,’ she wrote.

The beloved TV star urged her fans to ‘hug’ their parents after her own terrifying ordeal. 

‘To anyone out there with loved ones in the hospital right now or anyone out there near your parents right now, give them a hug for me,’ she wrote, adding, ‘Now, can 2020 just p**s off already xx’.
