Comedian Joel Creasey celebrates his 30th birthday amid Melbourne’s strict lockdown and says he’s now officially ‘gay dead’
Comedian Joel Creasey is stuck in lockdown in Melbourne.
And the stand-up star lamented being forced to celebrate his 30th birthday amid the coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday.
Taking to Instagram, Joel applied his signature sense of humour to the situation admitting he’s now ‘gay dead’.

‘I turned 30 today or ”gay dead” as my community affectionately call it,’ Joel said, referring to the milestone of exiting his 20s.
He explained while he did have a big party planned, he was forced to pare it back to just himself and boyfriend, Jack Stratton-Smith.
‘The belter of a party I’d spent about a year planning slowly got paired back to just Jack (who turned 27 yesterday) and I having lunch at home,’ he said.

Joel then went on to speak about the coronavirus pandemic.
‘It’s been a very bizarre 48 hours. So given the postponement I’ve decided I’ll stay 29 and try again next year,’ he joked.
He continued: ‘However I’ve genuinely had a truly wonderful day and have been sent some outrageously special gifts by some even more outrageously special people.’

He finished: ‘Turns out the key to a successful iso-birthday is to drink hard, drink often and drink early! And now I can go to bed.’
It comes after Joel was tipped as the replacement for Nova FM radio star Marty Sheargold after he announced he will be leaving his show in September.
According to news.com.au last month, multiple sources said the comedian will be his replacement alongside fellow hosts Kate Ritchie and Tim Blackwell.

However, there has been no confirmation yet about Marty’s replacement, so listeners will just have to wait and see.
Several other celebrities are being considered for the role, including Ed Kavalee, Sam Pang and Wil Anderson.
Joel’s stand-up career has been heavily impacted by the pandemic.
