Supernanny USA viewers in tears as busy mother opens up about losing a baby at 24 weeks pregnant

Supernanny USA viewers broke down in tears after a struggling mother who suffers with anxiety opened up about the loss of her baby at 24 weeks pregnant – before admitting she’s scared she’ll one day lose her firefighter husband too – due to his dangerous job,

In last night’s episode of the E4 show, Jo Frost helped the Ostlers, who were struggling with two rowdy boys Jax, six, and  Kaydin, four, while also grieving the loss of their first child.

But mother Nicole revealed how Dane’s job as a firefighter doesn’t help with her anxiety and often meant she was left on her own looking after the boys.

‘I need things to change so I don’t have those fears of losing something again,’ she explained. I could lose my husband at any time because he’s got a really dangerous job. I just feel like I could lose anything, really – because so much has been taken.’

And following the heartbreaking scene, teary viewers were quick to take to Twitter to brand the episode both ’emotional’ and ‘relatable.’

During the episode, Nicole explained: ‘Jax is such a loving kid but he doesn’t know how to control his emotions.’

‘Kaydin is our little goofball. He beats to his own drum. He’s very, very independent, and I’m just like a ghost who cleans their house and cooks the dinner all the time.’

Meanwhile, Dane admitted: ‘Part of our problem is that I’m not around a lot. I’m gone about 75% of the time,’ to which Nicole continued:

‘Dane comes and goes, so we don’t know when he’s going to be here. When he’s gone I’m not only a full-time mom, I do billing for a care practice office, I work all hours of he night. I just feel like a single parent.

‘It’s a lot of pressure and stress and anything else that goes on my shoulders. I struggle with discipline all round. We’ve tried everything with these guys but it doesn’t seem to really work.

‘All the fighting, yelling, screaming and kicking and no one is listening. It’s like a constant battle.’

And when Supernanny spotted a picture of a baby on the wall, Nicole broke down in tears and explained: ‘I was 24 weeks and four days and just went into early labor. I had placenta previa (which occurs when a baby’s placenta partially or totally covers the mother’s cervix). He was alive for about two hours.’

Turning to the camera, Jo commented: ‘Living with the grief of losing a child, I can’t even imagine. And with her husband, whose career is to put out really dangerous fires, you can totally understand why Nicole would feel so much anxiety every day,’

The expert then sat down for a conversation with Nicole on how to help her try and move forward.

‘You spoke about loss from losing a young child,’ she explained. ‘I would like you to go to therapy. You can talk to them about the depth of trauma you had.

‘But while I’m here, I’d also like to take a look at the things to do to decrease your anxiety as well.’

And when Jo asked what else she could change apart from being more assertive with her children, Nicole emotionally replied: ‘Start being OK with who I am.’

Many viewers took to social media to express how they really felt for the brave mother.

‘Sobbing! Mother looked exhausted and I really felt for her. It was clear she adored her boys but was so tired. Such hard circumstances as well and just ended up stuck in a cycle,’ wrote one, while a second penned:

‘Loved this one Jo. What powerful tools your have lent to this mum. Having a husband away and two little boys she forgets she always had strength inside herself.’

A third added: So relatable! It was like watching myself on to happy you helped this family on TV. You are amazing! Xxx’

Meanwhile, others praised how Supernanny showed how the whole family changed,  rather than just the children.

‘I absolutely love the way you show how the whole family change,’ wrote one. ‘This one was such an emotional episode and it was so great the very simple changes you helped Nicole realise she could be an amazing mommy to those lovely boys!! Great series! Loving it.’

A further added: ‘I’m liking how you are helping the whole family. Other series have focused on the children but this series seems a lot more focused on the parents. Just shows how their emotions and anxieties play a part with how the children behave and how it can affect a family so much.’
