Holidaymakers struggle to find travel money with thousands of currency exchange desks still closed

Thousands of foreign currency exchange desks are still closed

Thousands of foreign currency exchange desks are still closed, leaving holiday-makers with little choice on the High Street.

Debenhams has not reinstated a single travel money desk in its 124 remaining stores.

Barclays is not exchanging cash in its branches but is asking customers to order foreign currency to their homes.

Sainsbury’s has just 11 of its 250-plus travel bureaux now open, and Tesco has reinstated only 39 of its 300-plus.

Two-thirds of Asda’s travel counters are still closed.

John Lewis has re-opened 32 of 34 of its bureaux de changes.

The Post Office and M&S have both reopened around one-third of their foreign exchange counters, but with both, customers can still order currency online and collect from branches.
