Koala lover! Melissa McCarthy picks up local souvenirs as she and her family enjoy lunch and shopping in Byron Bay

Melissa McCarthy has been exploring Byron Bay, NSW with her family before she begins filming her new TV series, Nine Perfect Strangers.

The 49-year-old actress picked up some local souvenirs during a shopping trip on Sunday, looking delighted as she came across a very Australian-themed cap.

Picking up a brown cap with the words ‘koala lover’ written in white across the front, the Bridesmaids star looked very amused.

Melissa was in the company of her husband Ben Falcone, 46, and her daughters, Vivian Falcone, 13, and Georgette, 10, and showed them the hat she’d found.

Seemingly chuffed with her discovery, Melissa left the store with a brown paper bag, presumably with the hat inside.

Seeming relaxed and cheerful, she cut a stylish figure in a navy floral maxi dress and matching coat.
