Gerard Butler cuts a casual figure as he enjoys afternoon bike ride around scenic Malibu

He has made a habit of hitting the waves of Malibu to do some surfing as a way to stay active during the COVID-19 pandemic.

But on Sunday afternoon Gerard Butler decided to take a break from the scenic beach and hit the pavement for a bike ride in the upscale neighborhood near the Pacific Ocean. 

During his excursion the Scottish actor, 50, soaked in the sun and the gorgeous sights on yet another warm summer day in Southern California.

Even with the warm temperatures, the 300 star opted to wear a pair of faded olive-green pants with a white polo-style shirt.

He donned dark blue sneakers, dark sunglasses and had his short hair pushed back off his face. 

With health and safety restrictions still in effect in Los Angeles since confirmed cases  of the coronavirus began to rise again, Hollywood studios have had to delay more productions and releases.

The premiere of Butler’s latest movie Greenland was delayed once again and is now slated to be released in the US September 25.

It was originally scheduled to hit theaters on June 12, but was delayed to July 30, and then again to August 14, due to the COVID-19 crisis.  

The apocalyptic family drama film, directed by Ric Roman Waugh of Angel has Fallen fame, has already premiered in Belgium and France, with a Scandinavia premiere set for August 12. 

Greenland, which also stars Morena Baccarin and Scott Glenn, tells the story of a disintegrating comet that begins falling to earth and leveling cities, resulting in chaos and madness throughout the world.

In recent months, Butler also confirmed that a fourth Fallen film and a sequel to Den Of Thieves are in the works, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.      

He was also slated to play the lead in action thriller The Plane before the virus reached a fever pitch in March.  

His impressive resume includes Reign Of Fire (2002), The Phantom Of The Opera (2004), 300 (2006), PS I Love You (2009), three films as part of the How To Train Your Dragon franchise (2010, 2014 and 2019), and the Fallen franchise (2013, 2016 and 2019).
