Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition: Vado is BOOTED from the house after CHOKING his girlfriend

Rapper Vado was forced to leave the group house after attacking his girlfriend on Thursday’s episode of Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition.

Show host Dr. Ish Major scrambled to ensure that Tahiry Jose, 40, was safe, and that Vado, 35, knew what he’d done was wrong.

During last week’s show, Tahiry had gotten angry at Vado for not supporting her, and chucked green apples at his face in front of the cast.

Later that evening, Tahiry complained that Vado had been a bad influence on her, and Vado quickly jumped up and grabbed her around the throat.

After separating Vado from the group, Ish told him he would not be allowed to return until he was sure Vado was ‘in his right mind.’

Concerned, Toni Calvert asked Tahiry if she was feeling okay, only to have the former Love & Hip Hop star quietly shake her head.

‘It was unexpected,’ she offered. ‘I haven’t registered it yet.’

Tahiry told the group Vado had ‘too much to drink,’ and said liquor made his personality change.

Privately, she was horrified.

‘Vado… lost it,’ she said in a confessional. ‘He put his hands on me. That’s not like him.’

In another room, Vado told Ish that he had been incensed when Tahiry chucked two apples at him earlier that day, hitting him on the face in front of everyone.

‘She can hit you with two hands on the face, you still can’t put hands back on her,’ Ish said.

‘I still ain’t swing on her!’ Vado protested, furious that Tahiry had ‘disrespected’ him on TV, not apologized, then gone on to complain about him again in front of the group.

‘You gotta use some words,’ Ish told him. ‘You can’t use hands. You know you can’t do that. I can’t have you around her.’

For the rest of the night, Vado would be kept in Ish’s office with a security guard posted outside to ensure he didn’t leave.

In the main house, Tahiry stared at the ceiling, unable to connect with her emotions.

‘Here’s what I need you to know,’ Ish told her. ‘There’s nothing you did to trigger that. There’s nothing you did to deserve that.’

Tahiry said she didn’t want to press charges, and wiped away tears.

‘You’re breaking my heart right now, because the way you’re taking this tells me that it’s happened a lot,’ Ish said.

‘It’s happened a few times,’ Tahiry admitted, clarifying in a confessional that Vado had never beat her, but she had been in ‘abusive relationships’ before.

‘One is enough to f*** up your whole life,’ she confessed.

‘I’m able to not feel,’ she told Ish, openly crying. ‘I’ve had a broken nose, a fractured rib, and a bulged disc, and I have pain every time I walk.’

Ish told her that he knew Vado was her friend, but she was ‘not responsible for the lessons Vado was put here to learn.’

Outside, rapper Kurupt, 47, told his girlfriend Toni that both Vado and Tahiry were in the wrong—and she disagreed.

‘I feel horrific about it,’ she said to the cameras. ‘I’ve been in very violent relationships. And me watching her have to go through that and she just froze… it was horrible.’

The next day, Vado was distraught about what he’d done the night before.

‘I had no business doing what I did,’ he acknowledged. ‘I just lost it.’

In a meeting with the show’s producers, Ish and judge Lynn Toler, 60, decided that Vado would have to leave the house.

‘This is a particular issue that is close to my heart,’ Lynn said. ‘I’ve been a judge for close to a decade, and I would see people come into my courtroom time after time for fights, in shootings, for disrespect. Violence in any relationship is never okay, and completely inexcusable.’

Ish reminded Vado that he’d told the group they needed to master their emotions if they were going to master their lives.

‘I’m mad at the fact that she even took me off my character,’ Vado explained. ‘She been doing s***, and doing s***, and doing s***, and doing s*** continuously. I mean, c’mon here, I been chillin’, and chillin’ and chillin’ and chillin’.’ 

‘So she was asking for it?’ Ish quickly interjected.

‘Yeah,’ Vado said, which made Ish more certain about his decision.

‘I’m sorry about this conversation, but I can’t have you in the house,’ he told Vado. ‘I can’t have people doing emotional work in an environment where they don’t feel safe.’

‘I’m not kicking you out of the program, but I gotta get you out of this house.’

In a confessional, Vado shared how embarrassed he felt, saying, ‘Once it gets where we took it, ain’t got time for that.’

As Vado headed for a hotel, Tahiry agreed with Ish that she would keep working the program.

For that day’s challenge, Ish wanted couples to find a better expression for their anger.

‘What I’m noticing with this group is there is a lot of inward anger turned outward,’ he said, reflecting on other fights in the house. ‘And that’s why we’re seeing so much hostility and so much animosity.’

The doctor asked couples to write down all the things they disliked about themselves, and singer Willie Taylor, 39, put ‘anger’ at the top of his list.

Tahiry said she hated her nose the most, and cried as she revealed that years ago, a man had punched her in the face and left her nose ‘forever crooked.’

‘It’s constantly a reminder that I haven’t been loved in the right way, due to me being in a relationship that wasn’t healthy,’ she shared.

‘I’m okay with being alone now, and that’s not okay.’

Kurupt said he disliked his own ignorance ‘about life, family, [and] listening to people,’ admitting in private that he wanted to show people how much he really cared.

The rapper, who’d taken a drink that morning after being sober for days, also listed his ‘drinking problem’ as an issue, saying, ‘I know I can stop it and I just don’t want to.’

‘I know people would rather be around Kurupt, who’s having the time of his life, instead of being around Ricardo,’ he said, using his birth name.

After everyone read their lists, Ish had them remove the back of the frames on which they’d written, and they found that they’d all created t-shirts.

For the rest of the day, they all wore their shirts so and tried to face their inner demons with their partners and other people in the house.

Kurupt and Toni got into an argument about his drinking, and she threatened, ‘If you keep on a disrespecting me, Imma a really f***ing hurt you in a second.’

‘I haven’t been in a thousand abusive relationships,’ she offered. ‘I’ve been in two different situations with two men that I didn’t know. One was protecting a person that I loved very much, and the other was a stranger because he wasn’t a fan.’

‘The one in a relationship was years ago,’ she continued, ‘When you’ve fallen so many times, you just keep on getting up. At some point, you just don’t even care about falling.’

As the day wound down, Ish had the cast put their t-shirts on a dummy that they were then able to punch—a move that he hoped would exorcise their demons.

Willie, who’d repeatedly cheated on his wife Shanda, yelled, ‘I hate that I wasn’t a good husband! I hate my anger!’ as he pummeled the dummy.

He later sat down with Shanda and said that he sometimes had a hard time listening to her when he felt she was ‘disrespecting’ him.

‘I don’t want to be talked to like that, and especially not from you,’ he told her. ‘Try to be nice.’

Kurupt revealed that he was softer than he looked, adding that he was still reeling from the death of his mother, and trying to figure out why he drank.

‘Toni is the closest piece of happiness I’ve had since my mama died,’ he said, making everyone in the room cry but leaving Toni skeptical.

‘There has to be some point in your life that you take accountability and say, ‘Okay, this is what it is; I’m having a hard time dealing with it,’ she reflected. ‘Seek help for that issue. Don’t use it as an excuse of why you go and get drunk.’

That evening at 2 a.m., Kurupt passed out asleep and ‘something’ in Toni’s gut told her to look at his phone call log.

She saw that he had called a girl with whom he had been flirting before the show—and she started to feel that it was hopeless again.
