Kate Langbroek is rumoured to be returning to radio with longtime collaborator Dave Hughes after quitting drive time show last year

She quit radio in December last year, but Kate Langbroek could already be looking to make a comeback.

According to a report by The Daily Telegraph on Thursday, the 54-year-old media personality is looking to reunite with her longtime collaborator, Dave Hughes.

Kate left radio after almost 20 years hosting alongside Dave, 49, with the star and her family now based in Italy.

Meanwhile, Dave has since teamed up with comedian Ed Kavalee to host Hit FM’s Drive show.

Dave and Kate first began working together at Nova FM in 2001, before moving across to KIIS FM, and there are reports they could return to KIIS next year.

‘The Hughesy and Kate brand is very strong nationally. It is a national show with broad appeal that networks would be keen to have on air,’ a source told The Daily Telegraph.

In a statement to the publication, Kate’s manager Dean Buchanan said it was still ‘too early’ for her to consider a return to radio.

‘Kate loves radio and she is extraordinary at it,’ he added.

In an interview with Sunrise in August last year, Dave said Kate simply couldn’t be bothered with radio anymore.

‘She’s over there [in Italy] and we followed her and set up a little studio there in Bologna, so she can broadcast the show from there, and she was doing that for the first six months of the year,’ he explained, as reported by Who.

‘And then she just texted me a couple of weeks ago and said, “Nup, can’t be bothered for the rest of the year.”‘

He laughed: ‘It was just a text message. I hadn’t heard from her in a couple of weeks and then just a text message!’
