Bachelor in Paradise’s Brittney Weldon and Jackson Garlick confirm split after leaving the show together – and the rugby player admits their breakup stemmed from his ‘lack of effort’
Bachelor in Paradise‘s Brittney Weldon and Jackson Garlick have confirmed they are no longer together eight months after the show concluded.
The pair decided to leave Paradise together on Wednesday night’s episode after concluding their fledgling relationship needed more time, and it was too early for them to meet each other’s parents.
Brittney has now revealed they have gone their separate ways despite meeting up a few times in the real world, and Jackson added that their breakup was mostly his fault due to his ‘lack of effort to keep a good thing going’.

After scenes of their departure played out on screen, Brittney wrote on her Instagram: ‘I’m here for my final update: @jacksongarlick and I aren’t together, but he is an amazing guy.’
She explained: ‘We did catch up on the outside, I did meet his friends & family, and we had good times. Unfortunately, life gets in the way, and we are now just friends.
‘I am so happy that I had this experience and wouldn’t change anything. Thank you to all the amazing people that I have met throughout it all, you have made it one hell of a journey!’
Jackson also added his own heartfelt statement, saying: ‘…and that’s the end of my time and our time in Paradise. It’s difficult to put into words what it was like watching the show back.

‘@brittneymweldon is such a great girl and is always the life of the party. Unfortunately, after getting back to Australia, we found it difficult to see each other. Brittney did come to my birthday (and made the effort) in December 2019 and met all of my friends and family. She received rave reviews from all.
‘I’m mostly to blame for the lack of effort to keep our good thing going because I came straight back into preseason training and couldn’t travel to see her.
‘She deserves the world, and I wish her so much happiness,’ he concluded.
On Tuesday night’s episode, Jackson told cameras: ‘I look around and see the other couples who are in stark contrast to where me and Brittney are. I’ve gotta be honest with Brittney because there’s a lot we need to discuss.’

After pulling her aside for a chat to address their relationship, Brittney told Jackson: ‘I want to see where this goes because at this moment I want to be a lot more than friends with you.
Jackson replied: ‘What’s the best thing with this going forward? I don’t think it’s the next logical step [to bring his friends and family over]’
Brittney agreed, saying: ‘I totally understand where you’re coming from because I am the exact same. It hasn’t been long enough for us to bring our family over here.’
Reassuringly, Jackson told her: ‘As soon as we get out of here, I want to meet up with you, and see how we go on the outside.’
Brittney optimistically added: ‘I’ll happily leave here knowing that it’s too soon to bring family over but we’re still going to try on the outside.’
