MULTI-TASKING MOISTURISER

During lockdown, I learned how to make body butters by watching YouTube tutorials. My favourite uses 50g each of shea, mango and cocoa butter, plus 30g coconut oil. You melt them over boiling water and whip together. I add essential oils for a luxurious scent, then store in jars.

HOLIDAYS WITH FRIENDS

I try to have a holiday every two months, as stress is a big ager. My husband doesn’t like travelling, so I go with my kids or friends. I’ve been all over the world with one friend. It’s important to be independent outside your marriage, and to keep doing what you want, even if your partner doesn’t enjoy it.

HOT HAIR MASKS

I do a weekly conditioning treatment with TGIN Honey Miracle Hair Mask (£20.12, amazon.co.uk), which uses jojoba and olive oil. Usually I wear it in the sauna at the gym, as the heat makes it work better. But, in lockdown, I invested in a Bonnet Hood Hair Dryer Attachment (£3.39, amazon.co.uk). I wear this for 30 minutes with the mask on. My curls feel so soft.

LOW-IMPACT FITNESS

I’ve had to stop running due to knee pain, so I go for low-impact workouts, such as swimming. I used to use the cross-trainer and weights at the gym three times a week. During lockdown, however, I’ve been doing three to four 10k walks a week, often with family. This has made exercise more sociable, which helps to motivate me. I try to stay as healthy as possible, to future-proof my fitness.

LEARN TO SAY NO

I used to be such a people-pleaser, and would over-stretch myself by saying yes all the time. But when I turned 45 I thought, ‘I’m not doing this any more’. It was a huge wake-up call, and it has been so empowering. It has led me to turn down social invites — and even to end friendships that are no longer serving me well.
