Practise what you preach: Phoebe Burgess steps out in Double Bay without a mask after urging others to wear a face covering in a now-deleted Instagram post

Phoebe Burgess stepped out in Double Bay, Sydney without a mask despite advocating wearing a face covering to stay safe amid the coronavirus crisis in a now-deleted Instagram post.

Earlier on in the day, the 31-year-old encouraged others to wear a mask to limit the spread of COVID-19 despite it not being mandatory in New South Wales.

However, the former WAG failed to practise what she preached, as she embarked on a mask-free outing while clad in a chic double denim ensemble.

Phoebe wrapped up against the winter chill in a chunky light grey turtleneck knit.

Like a true fashionista, her denim jacket was balanced atop her shoulders, and she teamed the look with ankle-grazing white denims.

A pair of shades and a chic royal blue velvet handbag completed the look as she strolled along in black sandals.

After advising the residents of NSW to do their bit and wear a mask, Phoebe was noticeably missing the precautionary covering from her own look.

Phoebe uploaded a snap of herself wearing a mask on her Instagram Stories, adding the caption: Staying safe… It might not be mandatory, but it’s #trending. Wear yours too.’

This comes after NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian issued a ‘strong recommendation’ for people to wear masks to avoid the spiralling coronavirus crisis which is currently plaguing Victoria.

Masks are mandatory in Victoria following a surge of COVID-19 cases, with Premiere Daniel Andrews announcing a state of disaster on Sunday.

Melbourne is gripped by Stage 4 lockdown with an 8pm curfew, schools shut down, weddings banned, and citizens restricted to a 5km radius from their home.

Thirteen more Victorians also lost their lives overnight, bringing the state’s total to 136 and Australia’s to 221.
