Toni Cornell, 15, dedicates her lovely Lollapalooza cover of Pearl Jam’s Black to her late father Chris Cornell of Soundgarden: ‘Always for my daddy’
She not only has her dad’s good looks – she also inherited his beautiful voice.
Toni Cornell, daughter of late Soundgarden rocker Chris Cornell, made waves of her own on Friday, with a stunning rendition of Pearl Jam’s classic Black for the digital version of Lollapalooza 2020.
The 15-year-old, who has the same intense, heavy gaze as her late father, uploaded a video clip to her Instagram in which she performed the cover, in a recording booth while instrumentalists joined her remotely.

In the snippet, the teen displays a vocal mastery that’s fitting for the daughter of Cornell, who was the Grammy-winning frontman for Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave.
Cornell died by suicide in May of 2017, at the age of 52.

Toni, meanwhile, is growing into quite the musical force herself, often posting snippets on the guitar to her Instagram.
Additionally, a cover of the Prince classic Nothing Compares 2 U that Toni recorded alongside a posthumous track laid down by her father went viral in 2018.
More recently, Toni paid homage to her dad during an Billboard Instagram takeover.

And on Father’s Day, she wrote on Instagram, ‘Happy Father’s Day daddy. I miss you all the time. My heart is full of memories of you.
‘I would not be able to accomplish anything without you-the guidance, love, and support I always had from you they will last a lifetime. Wish we could just share one more song ❤️ I love you #daddyforever’
In addition to Toni, Chris is survived by his son Christopher Nicholas, 14, widow Vicky, as well as older daughter Lillian Jean, 20, from a previous marriage.
