Lili Reinhart and Austin Abrams endure the trials and tribulations of teen love in Chemical Hearts

The official trailer for Lili Reinhart and actor Austin Abrams’ highly anticipated romance drama Chemical Hearts premiered on Wednesday.

Chemical Hearts, which is based on the book Our Chemical Hearts by author Krystal Sutherland, is slated for an August 21 release on Amazon Prime Video.

The Amazon Original film follows hopeless romantic Henry Page (Abrams) whose teenage world is flipped upside down upon meeting mysterious transfer student Grace Town (Reinhart).

The trailer commences with a montage of scenes that depict Henry’s world, which includes pushing through crowded hallways, writing in his journal, and manifesting his dreams for love. 

‘You’re never more alive than when you are a teenager. Your brain is flushed with chemicals that can turn your life into a story of epic proportions,’ narrates Henry, who can be seen staring up at his ceiling with a restless expression.

‘And yet by the start of my senior year nothing interesting had ever happened to me, then something finally happened,’ he continues as he locks eyes for the first time with Reinhart’s character Grace. 

On their first day of senior year, Henry and Grace are chosen by their journalism teacher to be ‘the dynamic duo’ in charge of editing their high school’s newspaper.

Lili – who acts as the film’s executive producer – announced Chemical Hearts to her 24.4million followers on Instagram in June.

‘Here’s your first glimpse into the world of #ChemicalHearts trailer will be coming in July so stay tuned…,’ wrote the 23-year-old Riverdale star at the time.
