Bachelor in Paradise stars ‘slapped with a gag order’ over Jamie Doran lawsuit

Bachelor in Paradise’s Jackson Garlick hints the contestants have been slapped with a gag order as Jamie Doran’s threatens to sue Channel 10 over his ‘stage-five clinger’ portrayal

Bachelor in Paradise star Jackson Garlick has hinted that the cast of Channel 10’s raunchy dating show are under strict orders not to discuss Jamie Doran’s looming legal case against the network and producers Warner Bros.

The 26-year-old was invited to speak on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Thursday after Jamie had pulled out of his scheduled interview at the eleventh hour.

Jackson made a telling remark at the start of the interview that suggested his answers were being closely monitored by the network’s publicity department.

When host Kyle Sandilands asked his guest if he was free to talk about anything, including Jamie’s legal threats, Jackson replied: ‘[That’s] debatable, I guess.’

Kyle then alluded to contestants not being allowed to speak about the matter, and criticised Channel 10 for its ‘head-in-the-sand’ approach to publicity.

‘Something huge will be happening and everybody will be talking about it,’ he said. ‘Then all of a sudden the TV stations freak out and no one is allowed to talk about anything!’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel 10 for comment.

Rattled: Jackson revealed that watching the series back has been difficult for Jamie (pictured). ‘It brings back a lot of emotion when you watch it seven or nine months after it happens,’ said Jackson

Later in the chat, Jackson acknowledged that Jamie was ‘a little upset’ by his portrayal on Bachelor in Paradise.

‘Listen Jamie’s obviously watched the show back, and it was filmed last November, so I think he is a little upset,’ he said.

‘It brings back a lot of emotion when you watch it seven or nine months after it happens, so he is a little rattled by that at the moment.’

Keeping quiet: Jackson (pictured) gave little away about Jamie's legal threats, even hinting that Channel 10 may have put a gag order on the contestants at the start of the interview. When asked by Kyle if he could talks about it, Jackson said: 'Debatable I guess'

Jamie has been portrayed as a ‘stage-five clinger’ on Bachelor in Paradise so far this season, and received a similar edit on The Bachelorette last year.

It comes after Channel 10 publicists abruptly cancelled Jamie’s scheduled appearance on the KIIS 106.5 breakfast show, presumably in response to his legal threat.

Kyle unleashed on the network’s publicity department, saying they were missing an opportunity to promote their show by pulling Jamie from his media duties.

He issued a warning to Jamie saying that the best course of action in a scandal is to address it head-on and not ‘run and hide’.

Jamie announced that he was suing the network on Wednesday, sharing a statement to Instagram explaining why he had decided to call in his lawyers.

‘This is not the news I wanted to post, but I feel I owe this to at least my family, friends, and also fans of The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise,’ he wrote.

He continued: ‘After lengthy consideration, I’ve decided to begin legal proceedings against Network 10 and Warner Bros. Australia.

‘I’m not going to comment on this any further for the time being and would appreciate it if people would respect my privacy.’

In response to Jamie’s legal threat, a network spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Channel 10 has not received any papers regarding this claim.’
