Louis Tomlinson’s sister Lottie reveals she turned to therapy after tragic deaths of mum and sister

Louis Tomlinson’s sister Lottie has revealed that she turned to therapy, following the tragic deaths of both of her mother and sister in recent years.

The 21-year-old influencer and her pop heartthrob brother, 28, lost their mother Johannah Deakin aged 43 to leukaemia in 2016 and their younger sister Félicité, 18, died last year following an accidental drug overdose.

And Lottie has revealed to The Mirror that after the shocking and sudden loss of her sister, she sought professional help through her grieving.

Lottie, who is an ambassador for the Sue Ryder bereavement charity, said: ‘After my sister died I felt quite a responsibility to my family. I know she had let herself get into quite a dark place and I didn’t want to let myself get there too.

‘I’ve always felt quite strong and wanted to get through stuff on my own but I just thought I had to prevent something like that from ever happening again.

‘I decided to go out and get some therapy and this time around it’s not been such a painful long process because I’ve been able to share my thoughts and feelings and work through it so much better.’

Lottie revealed to the publication that she sees her therapist once a week and feels ‘lucky’ to have been able to build a strong and caring relationship with her.

Instagram model Lottie warned others not to ‘grieve alone’ during an interview with TV’s Lorraine Kelly this month.

Speaking on the Scottish presenter’s ITV show, she said: ‘Some try to deal with it themselves but it’s really important that you don’t go through these things alone.

‘That’s how you get yourself in a dark place. It just ends up getting built up inside of you and eventually you’re going to explode.’

Lottie’s brother Louis, who left Syco Music this month, used his music as a healing mechanism after his mum passed away.

He said: ‘After I lost my mum, every song I wrote felt, not pathetic, but that it lacked true meaning to me.

‘I felt that, as a songwriter, I wasn’t going to move on until I’d written a song like that.’

Speaking about the loss of his sister, who died aged 18, he said: ‘That whole dark side I’ve gone through, it sounds stupid to say, but it gives me strength everywhere else in my life, because that’s the darkest that I’m going to have to deal with.

‘So it makes everything else, not feel easier and not less important, but, in the grand scheme of things, you see things for what they are, I suppose.’

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Caroline Flack’s ex Lewis Burton has grown close to Lottie, five months after the Love Island host tragically took her own life.

Tennis coach Lewis, 28, and influencer Lottie bonded over the grief of their respective loved ones.

Lottie became better acquainted with Lewis at a house party in May, hosted by Caroline’s close friend Lou Teasdale, 36, which was held to mark three months since her passing.

A source exclusively told MailOnline: ‘Lewis and Lottie have grown close after spending time together at a party at Lou’s house.

‘They have been meeting up in secret for weeks but their newfound friendship hasn’t gone unnoticed by mutual pals.

‘Not all of Caroline’s friends are happy with how the situation appears to be developing but can understand that both Lottie and Lewis have been there for each other as a shoulder to cry on.

‘Lewis spent last week in Marbella while Lottie was in St Tropez the weekend previous, they couldn’t wait to be reunited with each other on Friday.’

Lottie shared an Instagram story on Friday of her sat in the passenger’s seat of Lewis’ car after he’d collected her for a dinner date.

The pair reunited at the earliest opportunity after spending a week apart due to Lewis holidaying in Marbella, while Lottie was in St Tropez last weekend.

A representative for Lottie Tomlinson declined to comment.

Influencer Lottie was one of ten friends who gathered in February to say goodbye to Caroline at the home of their close pal Lou.

Caroline joined The X Factor team in 2011; the year after Lottie’s brother Louis found fame with One Direction.

Over the years, Caroline and Lottie stayed as friends by socialising together at industry events and parties.

Lewis has recently shown his admiration for Lottie by liking a string of her pictures on social media, including shots of her in lingerie and swimwear.

Caroline died by suicide at her London home in February, days before she was due to face trial for assaulting Lewis, who she had been in a relationship with for just over six months.

The TV presenter was arrested in December for assault and charged with attacking the model at her home in Islington.

Lewis dropped his assault complaint against Caroline but prosecutors pursued it and the couple was told not to have any contact.

The CPS have since been blamed by the public and Caroline’s management for being a trigger for the Love Island host taking her own life.

An inquest into Caroline’s death will be held on August 5 with a hearing at Poplar Coroner’s Court in London and her family will be able to attend via video link.
