This is the sweet moment a couple in Kentucky surprised two doting grandparents by revealing they had recently welcomed not one but two babies.
In a video clip shared by the newborns’ father Tom Shircliff, Martha James Hall drops her jaw in shock as he reveals a second baby was born on June 13 when they were not allowed to visit the mother in hospital due to the coronavirus.
The babies’ mother, Brianne Shircliff is heard laughing behind the camera as the shocked grandmother reacts to realizing little girl Brinkley – who is sleeping in front of her – has a twin brother named Ace Leo.
‘That’s a real baby!’ she says with her eyes widened. ‘Are you kidding? Does anyone know this? Oh my goodness!’

Brinkley had a tight knot in her umbilical cord and Ace was breech, their father said in a Facebook post
The surprised grandmother moves away from Tom as he tries to hand over the child for her to hold, prompting the couple to laugh.
In a July 10 Facebook post Tom shared the news of their little miracles, adding that the babies were born premature, which kept them in the NICU for multiple weeks.
‘Our little girl had a tight knot in her umbilical cord that stunned the doctors, so it might have been a blessing in disguise that the birth was premature. Our little boy was breech, and there were multiple obstacles throughout his entire delivery,’ Tom wrote online.
‘There were 13 nurses/doctors in the delivery room in preparation for an emergency delivery. All of the nurses/doctors were amazing.’
In the same post from the same they were finally able to bring the children home, Tom shared how the couple had lost a baby son last year while Brianne was five months pregnant.
After that Tom hoped to have twins.

‘While that was the worst day of our lives, we never gave up ‘hope’ of continuously trying to expand our family’ Tom explained. ‘I have no doubt that our baby boy in Heaven has been watching over us each day & played a part in blessing us this year with twins!’
Tom – who is already a father to four-year-old boy Gavin, and three-year-old Briella Rose, said that his dream came true after sharing his wish out loud.
‘For many years, I have continuously told family & friends that I wished for twins one day in the future. Last year on my birthday, I openly proclaimed my wish for twins prior to blowing out the candles.’
Brinkley was given the middle name ‘Hope’ in honor of the child they lost.
But the grandparents were not the only loved ones who were surprised to hear the twin news.
The couple only told family and friends during visitations at their house or via video chats.
‘Reactions were priceless to say the least,’ Tom said.
Tom said on his next birthday he’s hoping for triplets.
