Chrissy Teigen will sweeten up Quibi’s lineup with her tasty new game show Eye Candy

Chrissy Teigen is continuing her association with the struggling streamer Quibi by producing an upcoming game show titled Eye Candy.

The 34-year-old model and author’s will executive produce a new series based on the popular Japanese game show Sokkuri Sweets, she announced Monday.

The new series marks her second series for Quibi following Chrissy’s Court, which she stars on with her mother Vilailuck.

Eye Candy is ‘centered around teams of celebrities and civilians who will attempt to identify outrageous edible creations designed to look like everyday ordinary objects,’ Quibi said in a statement.

In the Japanese series, which is produced by Nippon TV, contestants have to bite into the objects they’ve identified in hopes they picked the candy items.

The American version of Sokkuri Sweets was announced weeks after videos of cakes designed to look like everyday objects swept social media.

‘I’ve been fascinated by all the mind-blowing cake videos seen around the world and I’m thrilled to be a part of introducing Eye Candy to many others,’ Teigen said.

‘Disclaimer: We are not responsible for any feelings of confusion, betrayal or cravings that may ensue from watching this program,’ she joked.

‘When we first viewed the original Japanese series the closest reference that came to mind was Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory,’ said Main Event Media President Jimmy Fox.

‘Literally anything that appears on set could be made of chocolate or an undercover cake creation. The culinary artistry on display in the show is incredible and at the same time utterly ridiculous in all the right ways.’

Atsushi Sogo, Nippon TV’s president of International Business Development, congratulated Chrissy and Quibi for ‘finding our signature dish/format amidst the myriad of delicious plates/shows in the world!’

‘Sokkuri Sweets airs each New Year’s Day on our Nippon TV Network all throughout Japan to stellar ratings,’ he wrote. ‘Families watch the hottest and trendiest celebrities of the moment bite into a doorknob, a plant, or even a shoe, to find out if it was eye candy or an actual object!

‘The pastry chef creates objects that are impossible to detect if it’s real or a sweet confection; the suspense is immense, and the result is so satisfying. I am very confident that Quibi audiences will be glued to the screen to find out for themselves and look forward to many mouth-watering episodes,’ he continued.

Although interest in Quibi has been less than expected by the service, Teigen seems to be one of its more popular stars.

Her series Chrissy’s Court, in which she settles hilariously mundane disagreements, was renewed for a second season last month.

The streaming service can only be watched via its phone app at the moment, and it exclusively offers films and shows broken up into 10-minute or shorter chunks.

Most of the videos are framed vertically, rather than horizontally, so that viewers don’t have to turn their phones sideways.
