Amazon’s newest tablet the Fire HD 8 is now on sale for only £64.99

Portable entertainment for up to 12 hours: Amazon’s newest tablet the Fire HD 8 is now on sale for only £64.99

Released last month, the Amazon all-new Fire HD 8 Tablet is the latest model in Amazon’s hand-held tech space.

The 2020 Fire HD 8 is an upgrade from its 2018 predecessor, with tweaks including extra storage, longer battery life (which should now last you a whole day) and increased loading speed.

While tablets can sometimes come with hefty price tags that can deter shoppers, Amazon is currently offering deals on devices with Alexa, including the new Fire HD 8 Tablet.

You can now get the new Fire HD 8 Tablet with 32G on Amazon for £64.99 down from £89.99- not bad if you’re after a new tablet.

While not a huge upgrade from other Amazon tablets, with only a few tweaks, you may not need this newer model, but if you’re looking for the latest tech launches or interested in all the features of the Fire HD 8 Tablet, then this price can’t be beaten.

First and foremost this tablet has endless sources of entertainment, so if you love to stream films and TV shows from places like Netflix, Disney+ and BBC iPlayer or love to scroll through Instagram, TikTok, YouTube then this is a great device.

One of the welcome updates of the Fire HD 8 Tablet is the 12-hour battery life, meaning you can surf the web, listen to music, play games, watch your favourite shows and read for longer. While the screen isn’t huge, the improved eight-inch screen is perfect for watching or reading content on the move or even in bed at night.

The device has also been given a hardware update so you can now enjoy 30 per cent more speed. This comes in particularly handy for running content but comes into its own for when you want to make a Zoom call.

Unlike on most tablets, the front-facing camera is on the side so is in a great position for video calling, as you can look at the screen while also appearing to look at the camera.

One reviewer commented on this, writing ‘I needed this for Zoom conferencing and for that’s it’s brilliant. The screen is large and bright enough (even for outdoors), the battery lasts long enough, and it’s still cheap enough.’

Another attractive feature is the built-in Alexa, which allows you to take control of your smart home settings, check the weather and stream music.

While launching just last month, the Fire HD 8 Tablet has received plenty of praise from Amazon shoppers already. One user wrote: ‘A solid upgrade for the Fire tablets’ while another raved about the value for money, writing ‘biggest plus point is its value for money – absolutely superb’.

While some have mentioned how this isn’t the best tablet for gamers, it scores highly as a streaming device.

Another added: ‘It’s an incredibly affordable tablet of good quality; picture quality is clear, sound is sufficient enough, and it’s very smooth when navigating around. The device loads apps reasonably quick and works well when multitasking. I wasn’t expecting such a top-end screen.’

A third customer wrote: ‘I initially bought this as I wanted a Kindle for reading when out & about, but wanted something value for money that did other stuff. This is certainly it! I can handwrite notes on apps, watch stuff, use Alexa etc. For something I didn’t think I’d use much, I haven’t put it down!’
