Adrienne Bailon says she is ‘praying’ for Tamar Braxton after possible suicide attempt

Celebrities have taken to social media in recent days to share support for Tamar Braxton after she was hospitalized following a possible suicide attempt on Friday. 

Her former The Real co-host Adrienne Bailon explained that she is choosing not to publicize her response to the situation, as she prefers to handle the ‘delicate matter’ off of social media. 

In a live video segment, Ask Adrienne Live, posted on Tuesday, the 36-year-old entertainer said she is ‘praying’ for Braxton.

Joined by her husband Israel Houghton, the former Cheetah Girls star addressed fan questions about her silence over her co-host on The Real from 2013 until 2016. 

‘I know there was a lot of questions, coming on here,’ she said. ‘Specifically about Tamar, and I just think for me, everything isn’t for Instagram, everything isn’t for social media. And I know you guys know that.’

Adding: ‘I think it’s important to know that real life is so much more important than social media. So for me, I hold myself to a higher standard in real life, than I do on social media.’

She encouraged fans to pray for the star and said ‘but in real life that’s what I’m doing.’

‘That’s a really delicate situation and I absolutely think that we all should be praying for her, but not praying for her on social media posts,’ she continued. ‘Pray for her in real life. So that, to me, is important. Reaching out to somebody in real life, is important.’

Her gospel singer husband chimed in with ‘which you’ve done.’ 

‘Everything shouldn’t be because I want to make you feel comfortable, with what I’ve done,’ she said.  

On Monday, Tamar Braxton was said to be ‘alert and responsive’ following her possible suicide attempt, and has now been transferred to a new hospital facility to receive ‘specialized mental health treatment.’

Tamar, 43, is said to be speaking to medical professionals about what happened in the days leading up to her hospitalization, The Blast reports. 

A source close to the situation tells the outlet that Tamar is now ‘awake and alert’ and is being transferred to a ‘new hospital facility where she can receive more specialized mental health treatment.’  

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the reality star told the outlet: ‘Tamar has been transferred to another facility for further evaluation and treatment,’ adding: ‘Out of respect for Tamar’s privacy and that of her family, no additional information is available at this time.’

The report adds that Tamar will likely stay in the facility until it is determined what kind of treatment she needs.

Last week, the reality star was staying with boyfriend David Adefeso at the Ritz Carlton in downtown LA when he found her ‘unresponsive’.

The Blast reported that David called 911 saying that Tamar had been drinking and had taken an unknown amount of prescription pills. 

The site reported: ‘Ambulances then arrived at the hotel and took her to the hospital. Sources have claimed that David believes that it was possible suicide attempt.’

The LAPD confirmed to The Blast that they had received a call around 9:45pm, reporting that a female had a medical emergency listed as a ‘possible overdose.’

A spokesperson for Tamar initially said: ‘Tamar has had a very tough and emotional day — more information will be coming in the next few days. Please pray for her.’

PageSix reported that weeks before her hospitalization, Tamar had sent a scathing email to her WeTV execs, accusing them of destroying her family and making her ‘suicidal.’

Meanwhile, her YouTube show that she stars in with David is called Coupled & Quarantined ad had been scheduled to air on Thursday night last week.

Instead, a message read:  ‘Hello Ya’ll Unfortunately, Your girl Tamar is under the weather today and not feeling well so we need to postpone today’s show (Don’t worry it’s not Covid).

‘We’re sad because we had a great show lined up for you today, but next week’s show is going to be even bigger and better. 

‘So sorry for the inconvenience, we know many of you look forward to the show every week. we’ll make it up to you next week.’
