Katie sported a large bandage, covering her left eye, which was blinded during a horrific acid attack in 2008.

She was seen wearing it when she appeared via video link from home on Lorraine hours prior to that.

Speaking to host Christine Lampard, Katie explained: ‘It’s a week today [since the operation]. As soon as I finish talking to you I’m heading to the hospital to have this bandage removed, which I’m very happy about.’

‘It’s getting a little bit itchy and hot, but itchy is always a sign of healing, so that’s good,’ she commented.

The TV star explained that she was forced to have her lid replaced after struggling to open her eye.

Katie added: ‘I had a really successful operation. I was getting lots of soreness and infections of my blind eye.

‘It was because the eyelid which was originally a skin graft had contracted and got really tough and shrunk, so my eye was closing. I’d wake up in the morning really uncomfortable.

‘I’ve had a procedure to remove some skin from my arm, take off the old lid, remove the scar tissue and skin graft a new eyelid. I’ve had a scar revision on an old skin graft on the lower lid. All successful, I just have a bit of a sore throat.’

Lorraine airs on ITV, weekdays from 9AM.
