MasterChef’s Reynold Poernomo reveals he may not be able to see his girlfriend for months

They say that distance makes the heart grow fonder, and that appears to be the case for Reynold Poernomo. 

On Monday, the eliminated MasterChef contestant revealed his girlfriend Chelia Dinata lives in Bali and he hasn’t been able to see her due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions. 

While they talk everyday, the 26-year-old admitted that it might still be months before he can see her again. 

‘I really can’t wait to see her again,’ Reynold told HuffPost Australia.

‘I don’t know when. Hopefully it’s not next year, but even so, we’re happy to wait.’ 

Reynold revealed that the distance has made their relationship stronger and they make sure to keep in touch regularly. 

‘I Facetime her every single day,’ he said. 

Chelia works for an Indonesian cookie business and is also a lifestyle influencer. 

The pair have been dating for around two years and are clearly more in love than ever. 

Last year Reynold revealed that Chelia had been helping him re-learn his native tongue after he lost it when he moved to Australia from Indonesia as a child. 

‘The reason why I don’t tend to speak in Bahasa much or have denied that I can speak Bahasa is because I’m still learning,’ he wrote in a caption of a YouTube video titled Can I still speak in Bahasa Indonesia?

‘I moved to Australia when I was four-years-old and stopped speaking and English became my primary language and still is. 

‘Since I’ve met my girlfriend Chelia, I’ve been able to speak in Bahasa again although am still learning. It’s just easier to say that I can’t speak in Bahasa than to try and process the conversation and only understanding half of it.’ 

Despite making it to the top three, Reynold was sadly eliminated in Sunday night’s episode of MasterChef. 

His elimination leaves Emelia Jackson and Laura Sharrad to battle it out in the kitchen to be crowned the winner.
