Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Channel Ten for comment.

With the final three contestants vying for a spot in the grand finale, the pressure was on, as guest chef Martin Benn arrived in the kitchen to put the finalist through their paces.

The task at hand: Emilia, Reynold and Laura had to recreate his signature toffee apple, which was a far cry from the usual fare found at fairgrounds.

‘It looks insane, commented Emilia, before adding: ‘This looks like an apple has fallen from a tree amongst these beautiful autumn leaves. I can’t even comprehend this dish.’

‘Everyone knows the best bit about the toffee apple is the toffee, especially when you’re a kid,’ said Martin, explaining the dish.  ‘So I’ve toffeed the apple.

But it turns out the award-winning chef’s apple is s trick of the eye.

‘The apple is just one continuous strip and lacquered with the toffee and then rolled back up,’ he continued.
