Class of 2020! Students unable to attend their university graduations because of Covid-19 don caps and gowns in their back gardens as they celebrate at home
- Students are donning finery to celebrate would would have been graduation day
- Universities across the world delayed graduation ceremonies during pandemic
- Some have taken part in virtual Zoom graduations or held parties in gardens
As universities cancel or postpone their graduation ceremonies amid the Covid-19 pandemic, students have taken the festivities into their own hands.
While graduates would usually have gathered to receive their degrees and diplomas in front of close friends and family, the current crisis means celebrations have taken place behind closed doors.
As some graduates celebrate with virtual drinks with classmates and lecturers, others have held their own parties – donning their caps and gowns in their back gardens and living rooms.
Sharing their festivities on social media, the friends and families of many graduates decorated gardens and houses with balloons and bunting to help their loved ones mark what would have been their graduation day.
