Wolverine turns 20! Hugh Jackman shares throwback snaps from X-Men as he marks his breakthrough movie’s milestone anniversary

Hugh Jackman delightedly celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of X-Men on Tuesday. 

The Australian actor, who was was catapulted to fame in the role of Wolverine two decades ago, marked the milestone by sharing several throwback snaps from his breakthrough movie to his Instagram Stories. 

Hugh, 51, also recalled having to get into peak physical condition in a mere three weeks as he shared a shirtless video of himself jokingly packing a punch.

The star tweeted: ‘So here’s the thing. When the studio called and asked if I could get in shape to play #Wolverine in 3 weeks. I might have over promised! 

‘But wouldn’t you have too? Happy 20th Anniversary X-Men Universe. #Xmen #20,’ he added. 

Hugh’s fans also shared his trip down memory lane, as they uploaded posters and stills of the movie – which the star shared to his own Instagram Stories.

The hunk was a little known actor before getting his big break with X-Men in 2000. 

The movie grossed over $290million worldwide at the box office, making Hugh an instant star. 

He went on to play the role of Logan/Wolverine ten more times, which also includes his cameos in X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Deadpool 2.  

Meanwhile, Hugh has been taking things easy after going into lockdown in New York with wife Deborra-lee, 64, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In March, Hugh temporarily closed his Laughing Man cafe locations in New York to avoid the risk of spreading coronavirus.

Hugh later chose to reopen the locations in June, asking customers to ‘enjoy responsibly’ by using masks and keeping their social distance. 

 Hugh and Deborra-Lee – who are parents to adopted children Ava, 14, and Oscar, 20, – celebrated 24 years of marriage in April, while in lockdown.
