Britney Spears’ mother Lynne files new legal documents to be included in pop star’s finances

Britney Spears’s mother Lynne has reportedly filed legal documentation to be included in her daughters’ multi-million pound trust.

Lynne, 65, is believed to have put in a request to be included in any ‘special notice’ of all maters regarding her daughter’s finances, according to The Blast.

The hitmaker’s mother is said to have filed the document to the Los Angeles County Courts in the hope of regaining some control of her daughter’s money.

Britney’s finances are under a court-approved conservatorship previously controlled by her father Jamie, 68, who made decisions about her money and life choices.

Britney’s father, Jamie, stepped down in September 2019, after petitioning the court to hand over the reins of her conservatorship, citing ongoing health issues.

A judge at the time approved Jamie’s request and appointed Britney’s longtime care manager Jodi Montgomery, as her new conservator.

Los Angeles-based attorney Andrew Wallet was also previously a co-conservator to help manage the singer’s financial assets, however he resigned in May 2019.

Wallet stated in court filings at the time that the ‘conservatorship is engaged in numerous ongoing business activities requiring immediate attention.’, however he did not cite an exact reason for his department, reported the LA Times.

Skeptical fans of the star have suggested the arrangement is to exploit Britney, and have created the hashtag #FreeBritney on social media.

The fan-driven movement calls for Britney to be ‘freed’ from the conservatorship which controls many aspects of her day-to-day life.

A conservatorship is a legal concept in the U.S. where a guardian is appointed to manage financial affairs and daily life due to physical or mental restrictions.

Britney has been under a conservatorship for 12 years after she was admitted to a psychiatric hospital twice in 2008 following a series of events.

At the time the pop star was pictured driving with a baby on her lap, speaking with a British accent and stepping out after shaving her own head.

She was also wheeled out of her Beverley Hills mansion on a stretcher.

Britney’s mother Lynne took interest in her daughter’s situation last May when she attended a conservatorship status hearing, which Britney was also present at.

Following the hearing, a judge ordered that Britney’s conservatorship should be reviewed, however the situation still currently stands until at least August 2020.

At the time of the hearing, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Lynne had ‘liked’ Instagram comments from social media accounts from believed Britney was being held against her will.

Lynne supported the Free Britney hashtag and claimed the performer’s management team was ‘deleting positive comments on her Instagram post and leaving negative ones to keep up the illusion that she needs help!’

According to Page Six, Lynne commented on a fan account: ‘They were all so quick to remove all comments before, but now all the sudden they are leaving all negative ones, but removing positive ones! How much longer is this going to be?!? This has to be human rights violation!!!! #FreeBritney#britneyspears.’

On the same account, Lynne later alleged her comment had been deleted, but representatives of Britney’s team denied any involvement in a statement to Entertainment Tonight.

A spokesperson said: ‘We unequivocally deny the absurd allegations that we have promoted negative statements or deleted positive posts from Instagram and are considering appropriate action.’

Meanwhile, Britney also denied that her team runs her Instagram account.

Lynne also sparked attention for ‘liking’ an Instagram comments which read: ‘I really hope you are supporting Britney in trying to end [her] conservatorship. I really hope your ailing ex-husband isn’t keeping your daughter somewhere against her will.’

Earlier this week, Britney’s former photographer, Andrew Gallery, shared an intimate 2009 letter the star wrote about her conservatorship and marriage to Kevin Federline on TikTok.

Gallery explained how he was ‘compelled’ to speak up on the #FreeBritney movement and fans continued worries about her well-being.

Gallery said he became ‘close friends’ with Britney while working together during her 2009 comeback, but wasn’t able to come forward until now because he was still ‘under contract.’

He claimed: ‘We were on tour together, spent every day together for, you know, a while. And in that time, she gave me a letter that she wanted me to read to you guys.’

Gallery said that the original letter had been ‘destroyed’ by Britney’s conservators, but said he was able to make a copy.

In the letter, the writer says Britney is a ‘completely different person’ compared to her more troubled self.

‘What happened to Britney was a year ago and people need to get with the times,’ she said referring to her 2007 to 2008 breakdown.

Feeling stuck: Talking about her conservatorship, the writer claimed Spears 'has no rights.' They also say they worry that the legal arrangement will last 'as long as the people are getting paid … but it doesn't make it right at all'

They went on to describe how Britney was supposedly manipulated into her divorce from Kevin Federline and into giving up custody of their two sons.

‘As for Kevin saying Britney divorced him, she was forced to by her lawyers because she went to visit him in N.Y. and he wouldn’t see her and the children and her lawyers said if she doesn’t divorce him he’s going to do it himself.’

‘No one knows the truth. Her behavior when her children got taken away b/c of her locking herself in the bathroom is understandable considering her friend at the door kept telling her the cops are leaving don’t worry stay in the bathroom,’ she went on, referring to a 2009 incident where she was hospitalized after losing custody of the boys.

‘She was lied to and set up,’ the letter goes on. ‘Her children were taken away and she did spin out of control which any mother would in those circumstances.’

Talking about her conservatorship, the writer claimed Spears ‘has no rights.’

They also say they worry that the legal arrangement will last ‘as long as the people are getting paid … but it doesn’t make it right at all.’

The letter ends on an earnest note, with the writer calling Britney ‘a very giving person and would love to get the respect she deserves.’

Gallery’s TikTok posts sharing the letter have earned over a million views since Saturday.

The #FreeBritney first movement gained traction last March, after she entered a psychiatric facility, which many believed to be against her will.

After fans protested outside of West Hollywood City Hall the next month, Britney took to Instagram to assure them ‘all is well.’
