A bra fitting expert has shared her tip to find the perfect bra size without help – and all you need is a tape measure.

American TikTok user Madison Anne, 23, revealed the three simple steps you can take at home to get your size right and pick a bra that will flatter your bust – and still be comfortable.

Madison, who used to work as a consultant for a prominent lingerie brand showed how to determine your band size and your cup size, simply by working out the difference between the two measurements.

In a simple size chart, she revealed a 1-inch difference equals an A cup, two inch means you have a B cup, three inches equals a C cup, and four inches mean you carry  a D cup.

In the TikTok clip, Madison Anne said to start by measuring the under-bust, which is the part of the body directly under the chest.

‘This is going to be your band size,’ she said ‘if you land on an odd number go up to the next even.’

She said to measure your bust without a bra, or while wearing a sports bra.

Following this logic, if your measurement comes out as 33 inches, you round it up to the next even number, so your band size is 34.

According to Madison, a woman with a 34 inch under bust and a 36 chest is a B cup, and a woman with a 34 inch under bust and a 38 chest is a D cup

The next step was to measure the fullest part of the bust, which would indicate your cup size.

How to measure your cup size

Measure your under-bust for your  band size

Measure your bust and subtract the difference between the measurement and your band size for your cup size

1 inch difference – A Cup

2 inch difference – B Cup

3 inch difference – C Cup

4 inch difference – D Cup

Madison Anne explained your cup size amounted to the difference between of your under bust and full chest measurements

If the difference is equal to just one inch (2.5cm), then your cup size is an A cup.

If the difference is two inches (5cm), then you’re a B cup. This trick also goes for C and D cups.

According to Madison, a woman with a 34 inch under bust and a 36 chest is a B cup, and a woman with a 34 inch under bust and a 38 chest is a D cup.

However, she admitted the hack was trickier for bigger sizes, as different bust sizes could equate to different cups.

For instance, she said a difference of five inches (12.7 inch) between the bust and under bust could either mean a woman was a DD cup or an E cup and that any bigger difference could be one of two cup sizes.

Madison did add that the sizing could change from one brand to another, but said her easy guide could save you from indecisiveness the next time you want to purchase a bra.
