Katy Perry loves Kanye West as an artist… but says his presidency would be ‘a little wild’

Katy Perry is one of millions who appreciates the eccentric artistry of Kanye West.

But the 13-time Grammy nominee has implied that she doesn’t quite take him seriously a presidential candidate. 

She gave an honest, yet diplomatic response when asked about how she feels about the Yeezy founder’s controversial last-minute presidential bid, which he announced last week on Twitter.

The 35-year-old said Friday on Hits Radio: ‘What we’ve learned looking back is that the presidential job is best suited for someone with experience and that is a pro in their field.

‘I think we have seen and learned from experience that when we don’t have pros in position, that it can get a little wild.’  

But she clarified that she still has respect for him: ‘I love Kanye, he is amazing. I just, you know, I love him as an artist. And I think he’s an incredible disruptor as an artist and a conversation-maker as an artist. And that’s what I love the most about him.’

West, 43, caused quite the stir when he took to Twitter on the Fourth of July to announce his presidential bid.

He wrote: ‘We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States Flag of United States! #2020VISION’

The campaign was met with much skepticism during a crucial election year, as some saw it as an attempt to split the vote in favor of Donald Trump, for whom he’s shown his support in the past. 

He later gave a bizarre interview to Forbes, revealing his opposition to vaccinations, women’s health and Black History Month, while revealing he’s running under his own political party, the Birthday Party: ‘Because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday.’

West collaborated with Perry back in 2010 on her hit track ET, from her third studio album Teenage Dream.
