Customer service employees from around the world have shared the rudest and most bizarre experiences they’ve faced while doing their jobs. 

The thread was kicked off by Kirsten, from the US, who took to the social media site to ask people to share the most outrageous complaint they’d ever had – revealing her own was being moaned at for folding clothes in the wrong way. 

She was quickly inundated with replies from annoyed tweeters bemoaning some of the most difficult customers they’ve served, with the post racking up 15,400 retweets and 6,200 likes.

The stories include being kicked in the face by a toddler before being told they ‘shouldn’t work with kids’, while one woman had champagne poured all over her shoes after her client thought the bottle was too warm.  

Jade, from the UK, wrote: ‘I worked in the Card Factory and was knelt down filling the drawers. Someone sat on my back because ‘they were tired’. 

‘When I pointed out I was not a chair, they said “The customer is always right”. I still do not identify as a chair.

Ari, from the US, added: ‘Worked at a home appliance and décor store. Had a lady try to return a patio chair either without a receipt or way past the cutoff date.

‘When we told her she couldn’t, she said it was worthless and literally THREW THE CHAIR ACROSS THE ROOM and then stormed out.’ 

Another man narrowly avoided being punched by a man in a drive through after charging an extra 25p for a fast food meal.  

Megan, from Plymouth, shared: ‘When I managed a shoe shop I nicely asked a small child to stop kicking me in the face while I fitted his shoes and his dad told me that I “shouldn’t be working with children”.

Mercutio, from Massachusetts, said: ‘The person who tried to punch me through the drive-through window because I told him that we had to charge 25 cents for extra McNugget sauce.’ 

Eirian, from London, commented: Once I was working at a posh charity event where they went shooting. I was serving the clients bottles of Dom Pérignon – one client said it was too warm and proceeded to pour the two glasses onto my shoes !!! Nice nice 

Meg, from Sydney, added: ‘Working at a takeaway joint, customer said to his son, “This is where you’ll end up if you don’t do good in school”. My final test results were great and I was already in university.’
