She’s the mezzo-soprano who’s used to a jet-set lifestyle, performing all over the world.

And Katherine Jenkins has revealed that the downtime she’s had with her family after going into lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic has been ‘really lovely’ as they’ve spent quality time together.

Speaking on Thursday’s Loose Women, the Welsh singer, 40, even joked that she’s never spent so much time with his husband Andrew Levitas, 42, adding that it has been ‘really special to get this time together.’

Speaking to panellists Christine Lampard, Carol McGiffin, Kelle Bryan and Stacey Solomon, Katherine opened up on her lockdown experiences with artist Andrew and their children Laila and Robert. 

The star went on to say that though she misses being on stage, she’s enjoyed spending this quality time with her loved ones.

She said of lockdown: ‘It actually has been really lovely. Obviously I miss being out there and I can’t wait to be back on the stage and back with the orchestra and the audiences. 

‘But I don’t think I’ve ever been in the same house as my husband for anywhere near this amount of time, ever! So we’ve had to get used to living with each other as well.’

Describing the impact on her and her husband being at home a lot has had on her kids, she continued: ‘I think the kids have really thrived having us both there and so we take the positive of that, but it’s actually been really special to get this time together.’

The singer went to sweetly say how much her children has changed her life, adding that they’ve made her a ‘better version’ of herself.

She said: ‘Becoming a wife, I love being a mum, it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

‘Being a mum has made me a lot more patient, more sure of myself and my choices, it’s made me realise my priorities in life. So I think it’s just made me a better version of myself.’ 

Meanwhile, Katherine paid tribute to Dame Vera Lynn, who died aged 103 last month and whom she collaborated with for a duet of wartime classic We’ll Meet Again. 

The pair met in 2005 and Katherine said: I counted her as a mentor and friend’, adding that Vera ‘really inspired me’.

She went on to say: ‘They don’t make women like Vera Lynn anymore, she was really special. 

She added of the singer: ‘We’ve lost an amazing lady there and somebody very dear to me.’
