  • She spread the lemon onto the oven and left it for 25 minutes before wiping it off

While baking powder and vinegar are commonly used to naturally clean appliances and areas in the house, a mum has shared how she transformed her dirty oven using half a lemon and a cloth. 

Mum Ilone shared before and after images to the Mums Who Clean Facebook group – which has more than 264,000 members across Australia – and said she was impressed with the results.

‘Using only fresh lemon, I’m impressed. I cleaned my entire oven with it,’ she said online.

Ilone said she applied the lemon juice and pulp across every surface of the oven and let it sit for 25 minutes.

She then rubbed the oven down with a damp pink cleaning cloth to remove the grease and food stains with ease. 

Other social media users part of the Facebook group were also amazed at the sparkling results.

‘Oh great! I will try this!! Thank you for sharing,’ one woman said.

‘Sounds way too easy!’ another said in disbelief.

A third added: ‘I do that with my shower it gets all soap scum and glass squeaky clean. I will try the oven next time.’

‘Add some salt to the lemon and it will scrub anything,’ a fourth suggested.

‘Never endorsed a product but this stuff is amazing! My oven was disgusting and I sprayed this stuff on the door,’ the woman wrote online alongside before and after pictures of her oven.

The mum said she opted to use the dishwashing spray because she ‘didn’t have time to clean it with ‘proper’ oven cleaner.
