Sporting a shock of white-blond hair, the youngster was dressed in an adorable onesie emblazoned with an animal-themed print.

‘Baby Robert – circa 2004,’ the son of the late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin simply captioned the post.

His sister Bindi, 21, was quick to comment on the heart-melting post, writing: ‘Aaaaand I’m crying happy tears again!’

Robert and Bindi lost their father Steve in 2006, after the iconic Australian was pierced in the chest by a stingray barb while filming a wildlife documentary.

The post comes as the Irwin family gears up for their latest Animal Planet TV series.

In the show, titled Crikey! It’s the Irwins: Life in Lockdown, the Irwin family address the financial struggles their zoo has faced amid the three-month COVID-19 lockdown.

In a trailer for the upcoming series Robert and Bindi’s mother Terri 55, says the zoo’s typical weekly payroll totals $400,000, which accounts for 52 per cent of the business’ income.

‘The pandemic has severely affected Australia Zoo financially… I can’t even come close to paying bills. We’re having to stand down staff and it’s very emotional,’ Terri says.

What’s more, Bindi Irwin and her husband Chandler Powell, 23, forfeited the money for their honeymoon to keep the zoo operational.

‘We had originally planned to do a road trip for our honeymoon,’ Bindi says, adding that she and Chandler agreed to instead stay at the compound and look after their 1,200 animals.

Australia Zoo reopened to the public with social distancing measures in place earlier this month, on June 12.
